Gender violence on Twitter: Feminization as a form of insult in the digital conversation

Abstract

The objective of the research is to analyze the appearance of new behaviors of direct harassment towards women, invasion of privacy and denial of access. The methodology used for the investigation obeys a documentary design with an analysis of the literary phenomenon of gender violence on Twitter. Currently, the subject of insults on Twitter is the subject of debate and discussion in different areas. One of the main debates revolves around the limits of free speech and how it relates to the use of insults on Twitter. Some argue that free expression should be allowed, even if it involves the use of offensive language, while others argue that hate speech and name calling contribute to a harmful and toxic environment on social media. The results of the investigation need prevention and action measures since the importance of implementing effective measures to prevent.

Doctorando en Investigación de la Comunicación por la Universidad Anáhuac México, Campus Norte. Profesor universitario de la uas en las áreas de ciencias de la comunicación y tecnologías de la información. Director del Centro de Estudios Superiores de El Rosario de la uas periodo 2014-2017. Tiene publicaciones en diversas revistas Científicas, así como capítulos de libros.
