Abstract

This article presents the analysis of the song "Jueves," authored by the Spanish band La Oreja de Van Gogh. It was inspired by the personal diary of a young woman, which was found by rescue personnel after the March 11, 2004 terrorist attacks in Madrid. The methodology used is qualitative in nature, applying the hermeneutics of discourse analysis, examining the text in its textual, enunciative, semiotic, and pragmatic dimensions. The results depict a lyrical subject with low self-esteem, which is based on established social standards. The text employs metaphors that convey a message of liberation and the opening of new experiences. The conclusion of this analysis deduces the significance of self-perception in decision-making and actions.
